We were approached by Actavo Event Solutions, following working together on previous event sites, to provide ground works & steel structure solutions for two temporary rugby grandstands at George Watson College, Edinburgh. The additional stands were to accommodate Edinburgh Rugby trialling a move from their home at Murrayfield to the school campus.
The works involved installing removeable concrete pad foundations to take a steel portal frame to which Actavo would then install their seating and roof structure. The key to the design was to ensure that the foundations & steelwork could be removed at any time with as little damage as possible to the school grounds.
As with all event work, timescales were tight, and programme was challenging due to school access/sport activity still taking place on the pitch during the works. In the end the project was completed on time and the first Edinburgh Rugby game was a sell-out.
